Sammy and Wally may not have had the wedding ceremony they dreamt of, but this self-proclaimed 'Original COVID Bride' and her now-husband found magic in their two-person reception. Sammy, who chose an ombre Grand Tiara as her wedding band, shares their love story below...
"We were engaged in October 2018. Our wedding was planned for March 20, 2020. I’m a special ed teacher and the schools shut down the week before our wedding. We were still holding out hope, at the time unkno...wing of how much Covid-19 would impact and change everyone’s lives. Four days before our wedding date, we were faced with a huge last minute decision to postpone our wedding celebration. New Jersey announced the impending state lockdown due to Covid-19 that weekend. At that point, it went from groups of 50 and less to only groups of 10 or less were able to gather.

Despite the obstacles and high level of anxiety and disappointment, we got married on our original wedding date March 20th! We had an intimate ceremony at the Madison Hotel Conservatory; with our pastor, parents and siblings (under 10 people). We kept our distance and held back on any warm embraces, which was difficult with all of the emotions that were flowing; but it was still beautiful.
We made it home that night before the quarantine curfew and we had a fun celebration with just us two, Jameson, Patron, and a case of Trulys. We played X-box games and danced, having the best “reception” we could have during this quarantine with just us two. No matter what, my now-husband and I always have each other’s backs, through thick and thin. We can always find a way to make the most of our time together. Our wedding night was a night to remember. We’ve also survived being quarantined together as newlyweds!
Our reception has been postponed twice now and our honeymoon canceled for now, but we can’t wait for the day we can renew our vows and celebrate safely with all of our loved ones. We remain grateful to have each other and to be s
